ANA PAULA MAIA (BRAZIL) was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1977. She published several novels, most notable of which are A guerra dos bastardos (2007), Entre rinhas de cachorros e porcos abatidos (2009), Carvão animal (2011), and De gados e homens (2013). She participated at distinguished literary events in Brazil (Bienal do Rio), Germany (Berlin), Austria (Vienna Literary Forum), France (Belles Latinas Festival), and Greece (Iberoamerican Literature Festival). Her work appeared in German, French and Serbian. She adapted a novel by the Mexican author David Toscana, Santa Maria do Circo, to film. She writes a blog: anapaulamaiaescritora.blogspot.com.
